Light
Light is not decoration. It is a remainder, a scar, a signal: proof that something passed through.
ABOUT
06LeBloc Pur™ is the photographic brand and body of work of Antwerp-based photographer, visual artist and Animal Sense Specialist Michaël De Block, who works under the artist name Michaël LeBloc.
I work with what was actually there. Nothing generated. Everything witnessed. The work begins before the camera: in the body, in pressure, in the part of attention that does not switch off. I notice light behaving strangely, animals changing the distance between us, roads turning into signals and silence holding long enough to photograph.
I am not looking for a polished version of what already exists. I look for the point at which a place, a person or an animal becomes unmistakably itself.
A nervous system first.
A camera second.
An image only when it has weight.
I do not ask an animal to perform. I sit with the animal and the person who knows it best. We talk, observe and let the animal settle at its own pace. There is no studio routine, forced pose or pressure to behave for the camera.
Curious, still, restless or close: I follow what is actually happening. That is how character stays in the photograph, and why the session can remain calm for the animal and clear for the owner.
Long exposure, timing, focus, framing and restraint are controlled. What light does inside that frame is not fully obedient. I build the conditions, then let the image happen without polishing the life out of it.
Control builds the frame.
Light refuses obedience.
The image happens between both.
The work keeps returning to the same pressure points: light, motion, animals and silence.
Light is not decoration. It is a remainder, a scar, a signal: proof that something passed through.
Movement is not a mistake to correct. Sometimes it is the only honest part of the frame.
The strongest animal images come from trust, not dominance. I read small signals before they become obvious.
Some images need time before they open. I trust that more than instant applause.
Five ways to enter the work. None of them changes how the image is made.
Selected work as physical prints. Format, material, edition and price are confirmed per work.
Album covers, artist artwork, portraits and original visual concepts grounded in real observation.
Identity-led visual work for artists, brands and creative projects where polish alone is not enough.
Animal Sessions shaped around time, trust, character and the animal's own pace.
Selected existing work for editorial, artistic and commercial use.
I photograph the moments where the world stops pretending to be ordinary.
